Due to his anatomic studies performed on dead bodies, Leonardo da Vinci was constantly threatened to fall victim to persecution by the allmighty inquisition.
In a performance played and recorded during a major da Vinci exhibition at the Vienna Art Center, director Hubsi Kramar stages 'The Grand Inquisitor' from Dostojewski's 'Brothers Karamasov' by confronting Jesus Christ himself with the inquisition. For Kramar, the parallels between the scenes of the Grand Inquisitor and 'pope Ratzinger's global power church' is obvious. See extracts from the play and interviews with the involved.
