Emmely und der Streik im Einzelhandel
Die Situation der Beschäftigten im Einzelhandel hat sich in den letzten Jahren drastisch verschlechtert. Während die Arbeitsbelastung immer näher an die Grenze des körperlich erträglichen geht, bleiben die Löhne immer weiter hinter den steigenden Lebenshaltungskosten zurück. Und das während die Gewinne der Unternehmen kontinuierlich ansteigen: zwischen 2000 und 2006 um 64,3%. Als die Arbeitgeber Ende 2006 die Zuschläge für Spät- und Nachtarbeit kürzen wollten, hatten sie im Empfinden vieler Beschäftigter eine Grenze überschritten: Die längste und härteste Tarifauseinandersetzung im deutschen Einzelhandel begann.
Der Film begleitet die Streikenden über mehrere Monate. Zu Wort kommen Frauen, die seit Jahrzehnten im Einzelhandel arbeiten. Viele streiken zum ersten mal in ihrem Leben. Oft sind sie allein erziehend, in Teilzeit und mit so wenig Lohn, dass sie sich ihr Essen „bei der Familie zusammensuchen“ müssen. Manchen wird ihr Engagement im Streik zum Verhängnis, Emmely zum Beispiel. Nachdem sie in ihrer Kaiser’s Filiale den Streik organisiert hat, wird ihr unter einem Vorwand fristlos gekündigt. Als sie auf Wiedereinstellung klagt bekommt sie die ganze Wucht des einseitig an den Interessen der Unternehmen ausgerichteten deutschen Arbeitsrechts zu spüren.
Der Film sucht nach Antworten auf die Frage, weshalb die Beschäftigten und ihre Organisationen nicht in der Lage sind, sich gegen die Arbeitgeber durchzusetzen. Er erkundet das Engagement der ArbeiterInnen im Streik und analysiert das Vorgehen der Streikleitung und die Rolle der Betriebsräte. Beschrieben werden auch die Interventionen linker Gruppen an der Seite der Streikenden.

Solidaritätsarbeit für Emmely
Informationen zur Geschichte, Solidaritätsarbeit und Prozessen von Emmely. Sie war Kassiererin bei Kaiser's und wurde nach 31 Jahren gekündigt, weil sie angeblich Pfandbon's für 1,30 Euro unterschlagen hat. Tatsächlich wurde ihr eine Falle gestellt, weil sie trotz Einschüchterungen weiter am ver.di-Streik teilgenommen hatte.
