The huge transnational Allianz insurance corporation is the largest single stockholder of the huge transnational power and other utilities corporation, Essen-based RWE, and is represented on its supervisory board. Allianz could prevent RWE funding the nuclear power station in Belene, an earthquake-prone location in Bulgaria. So far the insurer is sticking its head in the sand over the issue. As part of a Germany-wide anti-RWE campaign, flyers were distributed in Berlin on 2 March 09.
