interviews  // english  // 8:45 Min  // 09.08.2005  // Hits: 28
August 9, 1945 at 11:02 a.m. Japan Standard Time: Only three days after the a-bomb attack on Hiroshima (see Hiroshima, 60 years after), the second nuclear bomb ever used in warfare was dropped on the densely populated City of Nagasaki. According to government officials, the attack carried out by the US bomber 'Bocks Car' and the uranian bomb 'Fat Man' was intended to force Japan to capitulate. At least 75 000 people died immediately, and many more followed during the years after. 60 years after, the adherents of the Viennese Peace Pagoda (contact) organized a Buddhist celebration in commemoration of the bomb drop. Among the speakers, there was Kazuo Soda, a survivor of the inferno. See an extensive interview with Mr. Soda
