Avid for power, the strongest Austrian party SPOe (Social Democratic Party) needs to undermine it's own objectives after the parliamentary elections in order to be able to form a coalition. The party drops it's main pre-election promisses, including the largest and most prominent one: the abolition of university fees (introduced by the previous government). The sellout: students who agree to do 60 hours of work in certain social services will be "dispensed" from the fees. This adds up to a generous wage of 6 Euros per hour. The parties concerned are less than enthousiastic about this developement.
