The Social Democrat (SPÖ) experienced heavy lossings in the 1999 elections for the National Council, while the right-wing populist FPÖ reached the second place with a narrow majority over the Conservatives (ÖVP). When the ÖVP-FPÖ coalition government under Wolfgang Schüssel was sworn in in January 2000, several thousands of people began to protest every day, creating a unique movement in post-war Austria. After three weeks, demonstrations were reduced to one a week as it became apparent that the fight against the government would last longer than expected. For two years, thousands of people went out to protest every Thursday evening. An unimagined pool of creativity emerged, several activists started networking and formed their own resistance groups, such as Performing Resistance, Transdanubien gegen schwarzblau and the United Aliens.

As the United Aliens TV website turns two, we have compiled a little video about the background of the group and their TV project. Of course, it's just a construct of lies set up for the limited human brainpower, designed to deflect from the extraterrestrial origin of the Aliens and their plans for world domination. |

Once again, the time has come. About 450 people gather in remembrance of the formation of the FPOe-OeVP coalition government in 2000. The Thursday demonstrations had been going on for over two years, but when the government was cofirmed in office after the reelection (2002), most activists were disenchanted (see "..."). Since then, protest rallies take place on `jubilees´ only. As last year, we attended and asked ... more |

The government is celebrating the 5th. year of it's existance, and so is the 'resistance movement'. The times when there was a protest rally taking place every single Thrusday night are long gone. Two and a half years later, demonstration veterans and newbies make another effort to turn back time. Up to 500 protesters marched to the headquarters of the People's Party as well as the Freedom Party, represented ... more |

In 2002, the traditional demonstration against the Viennese opera ball- where the country's elite meets – took place parallel to the 'Thursday demonstration' against the right wing government in Austria at the time. Having experienced excessive acts of violence the year before, the 'Thursday protesters' decided not to cancel their demonstration, but to clearly distance themselves from violence by choosing ... more |

The exuberant atmosphere at the 100. Thursday Protest against the black-blue government was contagious and caused the United Alien TV team to give up serious, informative journalism and join the party. |
